So close and yet so far
Weeks 28 – when you are done, I was 40 weeks + 3 days
I’m almost done, I’m nearly there! that’s what I told myself when I finally reached week 28 unfortunately the excitement soon wore off as I realised that I still had 10 or more weeks!

I’m almost done, I’m nearly there! that’s what I told myself when I finally reached week 28 unfortunately the excitement soon wore off as I realised that I still had 10 or more weeks!
In some way, it was a good thing that I had a reasonable amount of time left because we were not prepared! No birth plan or baby clothes, I don’t know why we left everything to the last minute, I was waiting for the right time, I also didn’t want to over buy…. I can be a compulsive shopper and I just didn’t want that, I wanted to buy what I needed not just what I liked or wanted….

We waited until around 31 weeks to have a 4D scan, it was amazing and made us even more excited, I loved that I could see his little nose, lips, eyebrow bone so clearly, it was Amazing! I loved my bump, I love talking to my bump and watching it move… finally I was loving pregnancy!
By week 35 I had experienced so many changes, my body was definitely not my body, I was not in control and the bliss of pregnancy started to wear off. It’s difficult getting used to your changing body at such fast pace! every morning I was bigger, not just my tummy but my breast, things, arms and the things that I could easily do became very difficult… Turning in bed became a two people job, working out became difficult burpees, box jumps, deadlifts became almost impossible, thank goodness for yoga.

Then the summer heat wave happened… Jesus my feet were the size of London! I’ll be honest the swelling stayed for a few weeks post-partum!
I stopped working at week 37, my job is not physically demanding and I didn’t want to sit at home not doing much…. I don’t regret my decision! By week 38 I stopped the gym, I was too big but I made sure I walked loads, it was summer and it was super-hot, I also had loads of ice-cream, no regrets! Besides my tummy expanding not much changed between weeks 37 and birth.
Finally, after 40 long weeks my little man made an appearance

Things that helped me during my third trimester:
- Talking to my bump and rubbing it, it was amazing as my baby always wriggled around when I spoke to him.
- I continued to take vitamins
- Resting whenever my body told me to because sleep is tough!
- Not listening to people when they told me how huge I was or how tough it was going to be to deliver my big baby!
- Comfortable nursing bras
- Tummy support
- Maternity shorts that helps with shafting
- Compression socks
Until next time, stay kind, stay beautiful x
